Located near the communities of Upper Fairmount and Manokin, near the north side of the Great Annemessex River, in Fairmount Election District No. 6 as shown in 1877. The contributor placed the cemetery near the homes of Dr. R. R. Ballard and F. S. Lockerman on the 1877 Atlas.

The burial ground was described as being in woods about 100 feet west of a small cove making out of the river, on high ground overgrown with small pines and briars. Two very large oak trees were noted within the burial site.

The contributor believed the cemetery was probably on the tract called Waters River, patented to William Waters in 1663 for 1,280 acres, close to the boundary of Salem, patented to John Waters in 1750 for 490 acres. The record notes that Waters River was known in the twentieth century as the old Cornog farm and adds that the cemetery may instead be on the Salem tract.
