William Edward TAYLOR was born in Snow Hill, MD in 1889. He married Mary Elizabeth Taylor, who was born in 1891. Seeking information concerning this family. There was also a school - "Taylor's Gate", a road - "Taylor Gate Rd", and a church/cemetery - "St. James Taylor Gate AME", all located in Snow Hill. The church is still being used.

I have "The POWELL Family" book by Ruth T. Dryden. It's a very nice book to have! I've found only one problem looking for my ancestors in this book, and that is the name of my grandfather, George Elijah POWELL (1883-1956). I believe his father was George W. POWELL (1859-1919). The book states only one son named George W. POWELL, Jr. There were seven children, and all have been accounted for; I need to know if this was an error in the book! Does anyone have any information on the POWELL family in this time frame? I've noticed that there isn't much information on the POWELL families of the Eastern Shore of Maryland on this site. If anyone needs a look-up, just e-mail me and I'll see what I can find!

I am searching for information about my maternal grandfather, Isaac TAYLOR, who was born in Snow Hill in 1894, and his wife, Mary SHOCKLEY. I know that Mary's father was named Rigdan "Cape" SHOCKLEY and her mother was Nora. I don't know the maiden name. I believe Isaac's parents were William and Mary TAYLOR. They would have likely been born before the 1880s. I have no details. Taylor's Gate and a church by the same name somehow figure in our family history.

I am searching for information about Isaac SHOCKLEY (born abt 1836). He married Nancy KELLY (she was born abt 1836). In the Worcester County 1860 census, it lists them as having a daughter, Maria E. I am pretty sure these are my great great great grandparents. Any information you could send along my way would be appreciated. My great great grand parents were William Jason and Martha Disharoon SHOCKLEY. He was born in 1855.

Searching for any info about the family of my grandfather, John Archibald FRANKLIN, b. 1889 in Pocomoke City. His father was Jasper (John) B. FRANKLIN, born in PA. His mother was Anna CORBIN. Anna died early, and Jasper remarried and had several more children. Family legend says my grandfather had a first marriage that ended in divorce. One daughter resulted from that marriage, probably before WWI. John A. entered the army for WWI from Harrisburg, PA.

My ggggrandfather Josiah JAMES, born around 1800, married ggggrandmother Drucilla RICHARDS in 1826 in OH. Drucilla was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1808. Her father was Elijah RICHARDS. Someone told me that a JAMES book was published and there was a Josiah JAMES listed as having died young. This family was in Snow Hill. Josiah did die young, in his 30's. Also, there is a connection to the WARDs. This is my brick wall. Any help will be so welcomed.

Looking for father and mother of William Melvin ROBERTSON (ROBINSON), born about 1819 in Pocomoke, Worcester, MD. His wife was Susan B. MITCHELL. In early censuses, his name is listed as ROBERTSON, in later ones it is listed as ROBINSON. The 1880 Worcester Co. Census lists that his parents were from MD. Family lore said there was a family fight causing him to change his name to ROBINSON.
