Family cemetery
A small Bevans family burial ground near Milbourne Landing and the Pocomoke River, documented by Philip L. Goldsborough in 2007.

The 2007 cemetery notes place this small Bevans family burial ground on the grounds of Milbourne Landing State Park, on a fire road north of the park and near a small gut leading toward the Pocomoke River. The plot was described as enclosed by an iron fence and shaded by large tulip trees and oaks.
The recorder remembered seeing roughly eight to ten stones at the site in 1964, but only a few remained identifiable during later visits. The notes state that land records place the Bevans family on this property and suggest that Rowland Bevans was probably buried here even though his marker was no longer found.
Priscilla Bevans was the wife of Rowland Bevans. Her gravestone records her death on April 23, 1823. A few months later, on October 6, 1823, James B. Selby made his will and named the children of “my deceased sister Priscilla Bevans, late wife of Rowland Bevans.” The will identifies those children as Elizabeth Bevans, Mary Bevans, Amanda Bevans, Francis James Bevans, and Edward Bevans. This record identifies Priscilla as a member of the Selby family. Source: Will of James B. Selby, Worcester County, Liber MH, folio 107, October 6, 1823.
A Worcester County guardian bond dated June 9, 1829, provides another link in the family. It identifies Edward Oliver Bevans as a minor and the son of Rowland Bevans, with Rowland appointed as his guardian. The bond was executed by Rowland Bevans, T. R. P. Spence, and David K. Hopkins; Spence and Hopkins were sureties on the bond rather than witnesses. The document was signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of William M. Burnell. The bond confirms that Edward was still living on June 9, 1829, and gives his fuller name as Edward Oliver Bevans.
