he bought trace ropes, cordage, crooked comb, velvet, linen. In 1776 he 
bought coffee, spring locks, clasp knives, fish hooks, knitting needles, 
"coas", paper and 12 yards of queen's stuff for a total of 6/16/6. Paid the 
1775 bill in cash in 1777. Mentions son, Benjamin and daughter, Nancy.

interest. In 1777 bought 1/2 lb. powder for 0/7/6. In 1776 paid 3/3/1-1/2 
with 136 gals of cider, 6 7/8 gals of brandy, corn, cash and a credit from 
Ledger H. In 1777 got credit for corn delivered by John Oliphant & himself & 
by a month's work, for making a cart body and a streaight handled plow frame 
for 13/15/6 & gave a bond in July, 1777 for the balance in the amount of 
40/0/0.

Balance from Ledger H 3/13/10-1/2. Bought rum, chocolate, 1500 feet of
plant to be paid in pork, and in March, 1776 2 iron pots for a total of
1/6/4-1/2. In Mar & April 1776 delivered 320 feet of inck plank, rubbage
plank for a value of 21/2 pounds and 21/2 bu of corn delivered by George
LAWSON for a total of 3/6/0. In 1781 the bill was
cleared by a judgment against Jonathan WALLER for 8/0/4-1/2. His wife,
Ebe is shown as a widow in Ledger H with a seperate balance of 1/9/10 so
Richard must have died shortly after Apr 1776. He went security in 1775.

3 eggs for a credit of 1/7-1/2 leaving a balance of 0/6/10-1/2 unpaid in

drumfish hooks for 0/18/9. In 1781 he delivered a doz. trout and 3 drum
for credit and after interest from 1775 of 1/9/9 was added gave a note
for 4/11/10.

Purchase pen knife, linen handkerchief, white linen, girth for 0/15/9. In 
1768, delivered 4 lbs of myrtle wax and 1-1/2 lbs of beeswax. In 1769, 2 
racoon skins and got credit of 0/5/5 on Henry SPEAR's account. In 1771, 
interest of 0/1/6 was added and Henry SPEAR paid 0/3/11 to pay the balance 
in full.

silk, knitting neddles, womans black leather shoes, stamped linen, woman's 
bonnet, durant, brimstone and borrowed 0/2/6 in 1785. In 1786 bought line, a 
psalter and molasses for a total of 5/2/6-1/2. In 1785, paid 1/0/6 in cash & 
got credit of 0/10/0 for 2 days work in altering Nelms' boat sails and 
delivered 2 geese and a bu. of potatoes. In 1786, paid 2/9/11 in cash and in 
1787 gave his note for a balance of 0/16/7-1/2. Wife apparently did the 
dealing for the family.

paid to Joseph STANFORD by Nelms and for loans for a total of 14/12/1. 
WILLIAMS was credited for work done for Nelms for 12/14/6 and for 1/17/7 in 
cash. In 1775, carried 4/3/4 from Ledger H and wife bought stamped cotton 
for a total of 4/17/4. His wife paid 0/8/0 in cash in 1776, and 0/6/0 in 
cash in 1777. No further payments in I. Accounts mentions daughter as well 
as son, Samuel.

4/10/0 in 1786 with a month's work, paid 1/10/0 in cash in 1787 and gave 
note for the balance of 1/11/8.

WILLING, Nancy (Raised by John NELMS) (20 May 1785 - 17 May 1787)
Balance due from settlement made on 20 May 1785 2/4/6. Bought 3 yds hummans, 
Irish linen, flowered cotton, oznaburg, striped holland, checked cotton, 
thread, callimanco, stamped cotton, checked linen and pr shoes from William 
DALEY, charged for making 2 gowns for a total of 12/1/9-1/2. Settled in 1787 
by offset of her wages. Witnessed an agreement by Capt. Robert Dashiell to 
pay 5/0/0 bill of George BAILEY in 1786.

0/12/6 for renting Nelms' horse for 5 weeks and bought glows salts, 
saltpeter and ginger for a total of 0/17/5. Gave note for 0/17/5 in 1787.

WILLIS, Benjamin ( 1765 - 11 Aug 1787)
Due from C 0/2/1. Bought checked linen, pins, garters, broadcloth, stick of 
hair, sheathing linen, buttons, rum, linen, handkerchief, almanac, 
ferriting, gimlet, shoe buckles, needles, pen knife, snuff, snuff box, clasp 
knife, cordial, razor for a total of 3/10/0. Gave a note for full amount in 
1768. In 1786 charged 2/0/0 for rent of Nelms' plantation for t he year, 
shoemakers punchers, allblades, shoe knife, a lamb and trace ropes which 
with balance of 1/3/11 from Ledger G came to 4/1/5. Gave a note in this 
amount in 1787.

WILLIS, James (8 Jan 1767 - 9 Nov 1768)
Charged rum, pins, garters, thimble, scissors, molasses, indigo, corn, 
oznaburg, felt hat, 500 herrings, hymn books, gun, clasp knife, with cash 
loaned came to 5/7/8-1/2. Got credit for 3 mos. and 20-1/2 days work for 
Nelms @ 20 shillings per month and made 14 weavers slays for Nelms for total 
credits of 5/1/8 and carried 0/6/-1/2 to Ledger E. Did work for Hieron 
REDDISH and Nathan CULVER and paid on account of Nathaniel WILLIS.

194 lbs. of beef for 2/8/6, making a total of 5/19/9 which gave him a credit 
of 0/6/5-1/2 on a note he signed in 9 Jun 1787, amount unknown.

WRIGHT, William (1765 - 20 SEP 1785)

molasses. Paid 1/2/6 in cash & gave a note for the balance of 3/5/3 in 1768. 
Bought sundries in 1785 for 1/4/7 deducted the credit balance in Ledger H of 
0/17/10-1/2 leaving 0/6/8-1/2 still due.

WRIGHT, Zebulon (8 JAN 1767 - 3 FEB 1769) Purchased cotton & a felt hat for 
2/6/4 a worsted cap, 2/6/4. Paid 1/5/0 in corn in 1768 & the balance in cash 
in 1769.
