Wicomico County MDGenWeb Historical Records

We hope to collect here miscellaneous historical records for Wicomico County, Maryland. These records will be displayed here and also placed in the USGenWeb FTP Archives. We welcome and encourage you to submit any records you might come across! Please visit the "How-To" page for information on submitting data.

Important Note! Wicomico County wasn't created until 1867 from portions of Somerset and Worcester Counties. The entire Lower Shore area was once Old Somerset County. There are a number of data files on the Somerset County site that cover present-day Wicomico County's area, so be sure to check the Somerset Historical Records page, too.

1. 1880 Wicomico County Census, complete
2. Wicomico County Deed, Trappe District - The sale of a tract of land by Henry J. Dashiell to Rebecca Polk.
3. Petition to the Maryland General Assembly - in which a list of Somerset County residents request an act to promote the advantages of the new Salisbury Town.
4. Somerset County Deed, Liber H, f. 400 - a petition for the opening of a public road in Tyaskin (present-day Wicomico County), with a list of the signers.
5. Selected Death Certificates, 1898 - 1958 - information gleaned from death certificates found in the Maryland State Archives.
6. Ebenezer Messick Family Bible - a list of births of some members of the Messick family, and a few members of the Larmore family, also.
7. Ichabod Taylor Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Ichabod Taylor family and their descendants. Among the family names found here are Hughes, Robertson, Mezick, Fletcher, Morsberger, Mumford, and more.
8. George Maddux Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the George Maddux family. Other family names found here are McBriety, Todd, Williss and Shehy.
9. Isaac Wilson Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Isaac Wilson family of Somerset and Wicomico Counties.
10. Ernest F. Disharoon Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Disharoon family of Wicomico County.
11. William H. Disharoon Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Disharoon family of Wicomico County.
12. William T. Jones Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Jones family of Wicomico County.
13. James Mitchell's Negroes - a listing of births and family relationships, circa 1851-1864
14. James Mitchell Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Mitchell family of Tyaskin
15. Robert Mitchell Family Bible - births, marriages and deaths of members of the Mitchell family of Tyaskin
16. Levin Morris Family Bible - Family Bible Record of Levin Morris and his third wife, Eliza Ann Fulton Jones
17. James Morris Family Bible No. 1 - one version of information that may have come from a family bible currently in the possession of a descendent of James Morris and Sarah Disharoon.
18. James Morris Family Bible No. 2 - information copied directly from the original James Morris Family Bible.
19. Thomas Covington Morris Family Bible No. 1 - a record of the family of T. C. Covington and his first wife, Elizabeth A. Fooks.
20. Thomas Covington Morris Family Bible No. 2 - a record of the family of T. C. Covington and his second wife, Eliza Catherine Williams.
