Be it remembered that on the 28th day of April, 1840 a certain Isaac JONES, George E. R. J. COLLIER and other citizens of Somerset County exhibited to the commissioners of Somerset County and petitioned in writing in manner and form and of following to wit: "The undersigned citizens of the county, particularly of Tyaskin District request the opening of a public road from the county road near Tyaskin Church to Wetipquin Creek near Ryall's store. Great inconvenience has hitherto been experienced in using the private road already opened in consequence of its not being sufficiently cleared and of a boggy place, almost impassable with a carriage or cart. At the termination of the road on the creek there are two stores and two shoe making establishments which with it being the place for holding the semi-monthly magistrate meeting renders it a place of great public resort and the necessity of a public road, which can be made at small expense has long been felt. We therefore respectfully hope your honor will take immediate measures to have a public road opened and constructed between the points aforesaid.
