Copy of piece written of Jacob H. Pollitt found in his father's (Levin Pollitt) bible:

Death of a well known farmer. The community was startled at the early part of last week by the announcement of the death of Mr. Jacob H. Pollitt, a well known farmer of Somerset County, resident about seven or eight miles from Princess Anne. The cause of his death was pneumonia. Only two weeks before his death he was in town and was as hale hearty and genial as was his manner always. His death coming less than three months after the death of his brother, Josiah M. Pollitt makes it especially noteworthy and regrettable as it removes in such rapid succession two sterling citizens from that neighborhood whose loss will be felt very much by their neighbors.
