William Smith,
son of Samuel
born June 23rd
Anno Domini 1778
and departed [this life]
October 21st A.D. 1843.
Aged 64 Years.

Here lieth him beneath the ground,
Who planted all the foliage round.
He braved life’s storms and fought his way,
Christ gave him strength and victory.
Triumphant did he close his life.
Of sublunary care and strife,
Jesus sustained him at this hour
and quelled the rage of Satan['s power].
