This cemetery page began with a small partial listing contributed by Shirl Jones Tarbox , who visited and recorded graves here in 1991. Her original contribution is preserved below.

The listing has now been completed and substantially expanded with a much larger cemetery transcription contributed to the Somerset Cemeteries Project by Ed Smith . The contributed transcription is dated 30 July 1989 and ends with the credit “Rebecca F. Miller and Others.” Because the source does not identify every person who participated in that earlier recording, that original credit is retained exactly rather than assigning the 1989 fieldwork to Ed.

Location clarification: The older page described the cemetery as Wenona because Shirl said it was “on the bend.” Chanelle White, a member of John Wesley UMC, later clarified that the church is on Deal Island ; Deal Island Road curves around the church as one travels toward Wenona.

Source-title note: The 1989 transcription supplied by Ed is headed “Listing from John Wesley Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, MD.” That wording conflicts with the later location clarification above, so the source title is preserved here as documentation while this page uses the clarified Deal Island location.
