Manokin / Fontaine and Fairmount Roads · Fairmount District No. 6 · Somerset County, Maryland
Cemetery No. 911-W-31-SW
The historical church building was already gone when surveyed. The field notes place the burial ground near the intersection of Fontaine and Fairmount Roads at the former Salem church site, marked as an M.P. church on the 1877 atlas.
The 1995 record includes standing markers, flat memorials, family plots, multiple unmarked vaults, and a number of epitaphs. Later photographs by Ed Smith were kept with the folder.

Other unmarked vaults
Transcription / field record
The source records two unmarked vaults at some distance from the Maddox stone; at least one additional unmarked vault; another within the Reese fence; and two more unmarked vaults near the Landon group. A funeral-home marker read: “Bradshaw & Sons __becca / 0 months 5 days.” The surviving reading does not identify the individual.
Field note: Do not infer an exact number of distinct unidentified burials beyond what the field record supports.
Additional Field Photographs
These are images in Ed’s source folder that cannot be confidently assigned to a specific transcribed marker, or are supplemental field and research photographs. Select a thumbnail to view its full-sized original.
The source folder calls this “Salem M.P. Church site,” whereas the transcription heading says “Salem M.E. Church Cemetery,” and it reports the 1877 atlas marked an M.P. church. The different descriptions are retained here without deciding which denominational name is historically definitive.
IMG_0783.JPG appears in the source folder but was not downloadable through the connected Drive API (404); it is not included in this review package.
