Old Miles burial plot at Sunny Ridge Memorial Park; photograph from Ed’s shared collection.
This older family burial ground lies within what is now Sunny Ridge Memorial Park, in the Hopewell area near the head of Jones (Hart’s) Creek and Old St. Peter’s Church. The survey identifies memorials for Miles relatives and members of the Davis, Coulbourn, and Nelson families.
Philip L. Goldsborough recorded twenty named memorials and reported eight additional infant gravestones for children of John H. and Lovey Miles. Only two wide cemetery photographs accompanied the supplied file; they are not presumed to show every named marker.

Cemetery and Research Notes
In addition to the twenty named memorials listed here, Goldsborough recorded eight gravestones of children of John H. and Lovey Miles, all under one year old. Their names and individual readings were not included in the supplied transcription.
The original survey describes the plot within the modern Sunny Ridge Memorial Park, near the head of Jones (also called Hart’s) Creek. It associates the older site with the tract Hearts Ease, patented to Robert Hart in 1663 for 200 acres and resurveyed to 400 acres in 1728 by Henry Miles. The 1877 Atlas places the nearby home of J. H. Miles and the Old St. Peter’s M.E. Church in this area.
Second donor photograph of the Old Miles plot. The individual stones have not been matched to named transcriptions.
Original survey and transcription: Philip L. Goldsborough, recorded April 14, 1992; original “Old Miles Family Cemetery” field transcription and accompanying donor photographs.
