Located near the Community of Upper Fairmount at the end of Townrow Road. On the southwest side of a gut known as Big Gut on modern maps and Maddux Creek on the 1877 Atlas. Near the homes of D. H. Maddox and N. Boggs in 1877.
The site is located within the bounds of the Ancient Patent called Inclosure issued to Thomas Maddux in 1740 for 590 acres, a resurvey of an earlier tract known as Maddux Inclosure (1680).
John Maddox is taxed for 590 acres on the 1783 tax list. Also near the home of Capt. William T. Ford, on the 1877 Atlas of the Eastern Shore.
