Pigeon House Creek / Dames Quarter · 1877 Atlas map: Dames Quarter District No. 2
Cemetery No. 911-O-21-West
The cemetery is west of the head of Pigeon House Creek, north of Deal Island Road, in two wooded hammocks surrounded by marsh. The contributor survey notes that the cemetery and a few large trees are among the surviving traces of the old Pigeon House community, which the 1877 Atlas shows with numerous homes, a school, and a church. The site is near the boundaries of the tracts Delay, Addition to Forlorn Hope, and Forlorn Hope.
Transcription note: The grave records below combine the original 1993 Somerset Cemeteries Project listing with the expanded field survey made January 30, 1994. The fuller 1994 transcription is used as the main reading. Where the two records differ, the 1993 reading is noted on the individual grave card rather than repeated in a separate duplicate list. Uncertain readings and field notes are retained rather than silently corrected.

The original SCP listing was contributed in 1993 by Zack and Mike Taylor at the request of Peg Taylor and sent by Margaret Robinson. An expanded field survey was made January 30, 1994, in falling snow, by Clifford Laird, Philip L. Goldsborough, and Rebecca F. Miller. This page merges those records into one grave-by-grave listing; differences between the two transcriptions are preserved on the affected grave cards.
