Transcription
In the name of God Amen I William Owens of Somerset County in the Province
of Maryland being Sick and Weak of body but of good and Perfect Memory
thanks be to god Almighty and knowing the Uncertainty of this Present life
and being desirous to settle my affairs do Make this my Last Will &
Testament in Manner & form following first and principally I recomend my
soul to god Almighty my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receive
full and free pardon of all my sins and be Saved by the Precious Death and
Morels of my blessed saviour and
Redeemer Jesus Christ and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to
be buried in a decent and Christian Maner by Executrix hereafter named and
as Touching what worldly Estate the Lord in his Mercy hath Lent me, it is
my Will that it be disposed of as hereafter is expressed.
I leave unto my Two sons William & John Owens all that Tract of Land called
the Widows choice, bounded as by conveyed with Appare the said Land to be
equally divided between the said boys. William to have what part of the
Tract which adjoyns to the Serverah[???] and John to have the other part
adjoyning to Thomas Smiths land the above said land I leave I leave unto
the said boys and their heirs for Ever. I leave unto my sons Robert &
Samuel Owens to each of them one three year old heifer with all their
increase to the said boys and their heirs for ever and this my Will that
all my above Named sons shall be at age and for themselves when Eighteen
years Old, as for my other goods I leave unto Beloved Wife Anna Owens, a
third of what Goods I am now possessed with and as for the other Two parts.
This my Will that it be Equally divided between my four sons to them and
their heirs for Ever.
I Constitute and appoint my Beloved Wife to be Executrix of this my last
will & Testament, disannulling and making void any former Will or Wills by
me made either by word or write And I appoint John Polk and William Knox
overseers hereof. I Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal
this 27 day of March, 1698.
