Transcription
In the Name of God Amen December 13th 1693. The Last Will of Thomas
Clifton of the County of Somerset and Province of Maryland . [??????] who
being in his perfect Memory and Sences but very weak in body and calling to
mind the shortness and uncertainly of this life is willing to settle and
;put to rights the small Estate god Almighty hath bestowed him, first place
bequeathing g his soul in the hands of his gracious and ever blessed
redeemer Jesus Christ and in the earth place my body to be burried in
Christian like manner, as the discretion of my Executrix after mentioned.

Item I do will and bequeath to my son Thomas Clifton all and whole that
plantation that I do live on being two hundred acres of land also one
hundred acres lying upon the plantation called by name Hoghill as is
expires in the patent whom and his heirs forever, but if the sd. Thomas
shall die without free of his own body then the said land shall;; be
equally divided betwixt his tow sisters Samaline Clifton and Grace Clifton
also I bequeath to my son Thomas Clifton on cow to be paid next spring
knowing these presents_____
Item I will and bequeath to son Thomas Clifton and Samaline Clifton and
Grace Clifton two mares with their increase to be equally divided betwixt
the sd. three children. Only the first cost to be paid for the proper use
of William Davies his mother thinking fitt____ Item I will and bequeath to
my Daughter Tamasine Clifton one cow to be paid next spring after the sale
of these presents____
Item I will and bequeath to my Daughter Francis Clifton twelve pence
Item I will and bequeath to my Dear Wife Hannah Clifton Twelve-head cattle
I also bequeath to my Dear wife Hannah Clifton on e hundred acres of land
called by name Courtland being one Island to be wholy and solily at her
disposal also I will bequeath if my Dr. wife should die that my son Tho.
Clifton shall be left to the case of John Pope of the County and Province
above mentioned till he comes to the twentieth year of age, Also I will and
bequeath my Dear wife to be my sole Executrix that is to receive all debts
due to me and to pay all debts due by me I also bequeath to my Dear wife
one male or female of the Increase two mares left to the three children to
be at whole disposing

Peter Lowder and Will Davis before me in their proper persons and made oath
that they saw testator Thomas Clifton sign and seale the above written will
deed and declare it to be his last Will and Testament Witness my hand
