Transcription
In the Name of God Amen I Richard Ackworth of Somerset County in the
Province of Maryland Planter being weak of body but perfect of memory do
make this my last will & testament as followeth
Imprimus I bequeath my body to the dust & my soule to god that gave it
hoping for the Blessed Resurrection of the just unto eternal life & for the
Estate that god hath bestowed upon me I dispose of it as followeth ~~~
I give & bequeath unto my son Richard Ackworth six hundred & sixty acres of
land lying on the Manokin River in Somerset County to enjoy the same as his
proper Estate at the age of Twenty years ~~~
I give & bequeath unto my son Thomas Ackworth four hundred acres of land
where I now live in Nanticoke River in Somerset County to enjoy as his
proper Estate when he attaineth to ye age of twenty years ~~~
I give & bequeath unto my son Henry Ackworth five hundred acres of land
vizt three hundred acres lying in Rewastico & two hundred acres lying upon
Barron Creek in Somerset County to enjoy as his proper Estate when he
attaineth to the age of twenty years ~~~
I give & bequeath in case my loving wife Anne Ackworth be safely delivered
of a son she being now with child Three hundred acres of land vz one
hundred acres of land by pattent lying at the mouth of Barron Creek in
Somerset County & rights for the other two hundred acres of land to be
taken up in casquaen in the said county of Somerset. & the whole charges
for surveying & pattent to be paid out of the Estate. The same lands to
enjoy as his proper Estate when he attaineth the age of twenty years ~~~
I give & bequeath further unto my son Richard above mentioned One bay Mare
with her increase for ever to be delivered to him presently after my
decease I give & bequeath unto John Manlove of Somerset County one thousand
pounds of porke ~~~
I give & bequeath unto Matthew Dorman of Somerset County twenty pair of
French stalls vizt two pair every year untill the twenty ~ pair be
compleated ~~~
I give & bequeath all the rest of my Estate after my loving wife Anne hath
her thirds of the whole, unto my sons & daughters equally to be divided ~~~
& lastly I doe hereby make my loving wife Ann Ackworth my whole & sole
executrix. & this I make & declare to be my last will & testament
revoaking all others witness my h& & seale

the first year of the dominion of Charles Anno. Domm 1675. From the Hble
Phillip Calvert Esq. Or comessary genl: for Probate of wills & the within
written last will & testament of Richard Ackworth lately deceased was then
proved to by the within named Edmond Beauchamp & John Webb witnesses to the
same & also Ann Acworth widd & executrix in the last will & testament
within named did take the usual oath of an executrix All done in common
form before me as witness my hand & seale ~ Will
