In the name of God Amen January the sixth day Anno Dom one thousand seven
hundred and sixty and nine I Phillip Addams of Somerset County in the
province of Maryland Planter being in perfect mind and memory thanks ve to
almighty god for it and Calling to mind the uncertainty of these present
life and willing to settle my affairs here on Earth and as for my worldly
Estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I Bestow as followeth
(VIZ) Imprimis I leave unto my well beloved wife Ellis Addams furing her
natural line all the northernmost end of my land as far as to a Pine stump
that standeth in the side of the dam on the southernmost side of my
Dwelling House and from thence to the mouth of a Ditch and a long with the
ditch that goeth a long the side of my orchard as far as my back ditch and
thence with the same Coarse and a Cross my tract of land with house and
orchards and all privledges thereunto belonging and and also my negro man
named Dick and my negroe woman named Nan and my Negroe garl named Patience
and also two horses one named Punch and the other named Dragon and my hand
mill and also one feather bed and furniture and one plow and
harrow______Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Roda Beauchamp to the
and heirs forever after my wife Ellis Addams decease all the northernmost
end of my land as far as to a Pine Stump that standethin the side of the
dam on the southernmost side of my dwelling house and from thence to the
mouth of a Ditch and a long with the Ditch that goeth along the side of my
orchard as for as my back ditch and hence with the same Coarse and cross my
tract of land with House and orchard and all privledges thereunto belonging
and also I leave unto my Daughter Roda Beauchamp after my wifes death my
negro women named Nan and after my Daughter no days death I give and
bequeath the above said negro woman named Nan unto my grand Daughter
Tabitha Beauchamp to the she and her heirs forever______ Item I give and
bequeath unto my daughter Tabitha Addams to she and her heirs forever after
my wife decease my negro man named Dick and my hand mill and one horse
named Dragon Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Addams one
feather bed and furniture and one negro man Named Jack and one horse named
Punch after my wife decease to she and her heirs forever______ Item I give
and bequeath unto my Grandson David Addams son of Hope Addams all my tract
of land lying back of young Beauchamp Davis containing twenty one acres to
him and his heirs and aforesigned forever______I give and bequeath unto my
son in law William Addams and my Grandson Phillip Addams son of the was
Addams and my Grandson Jesse Addams and my Grandson Phillip Addams and my
Grandson Hope Addams son of Hope Addams sons of Hope Addams all my right
and title of my Marsh which is in Condoiquian Marsh containing twenty five
acres to be equally divided between and amongst them to them and their
heirs forever_____Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Phillip Addams
son of William Addams one live lamb to him and his heirs forever____ Item I
give and bequeath unto my Grandson Phillip Beauchamp one Ewe and Lamb to
him and his heirs forever_____ Item I give and bequeath unto my son in law
Thomas Addams one shillings sterling money _____ Item I give and bequeath
unto my Daughter Grace Marshall one shilling sterling money____ Item I give
and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Ellis Addams one third part of my
moveable Estate within doars and without doars to be at her won disposing
___Item after my lawful debts and lagases being paid______ I give and
bequeath all the remaining part of my estate to be equally divided between
and amongst my four daughters that is to say Elisabeth Matthews Mary
Marshall Sarah Addams and Tabitha Addams to them and their heirs
forever____ Item I do hereby nominate constitute appoint and ordain my son
in law William Addams to be my whole and sole Executor of this my last will
and testament and I do hereby Revoke disavow and Disanul of any former
Wills and Testaments before made by my me ratifying and confirming this and
no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness where of I have

On the 30th day of June 1772 Came Purnell Outten and made oath on the Holy
Evangilist of almighty god the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true
and Will and Testament of Phillip Addams late of Somerset County Deceased
that hath come to his hands possession or knowledge and that he did not
know or ever heard of any other
Sworn Before Thos. Holbrook Deputy Comy. Of Somerset County on the
30th of June one thousand seven hundred and seventy two Came Purnell Outten
Beauchamp Davis and Jacob Addams the three subscribing witnesses and made
oath on the Holy Evangilist of almighty God that they did see the testator
Phillip Addams sign and seal the aforegoing Will and heard him publish
pronounce and declare the same to b his last Will and Testament and at the
time of his sodoing he was to the best of these aprehansions of a sound
disposing mind memory and understanding and that they subscribed their
names as witnesses to the said Will and on the presence of the said
