In the name of god Amen I Nicholas Rice of ye. County of Somerset in ye. province of Maryland being of Perfect Mind & Memory, but sick & weak in body praise be given to ye. almighty for doe ordain & Appoint this my Last will & Testament to be as followth. after ye. Bequeathing of my soul to ye. Almighty from whome I received it trusting in ye. Meritts of my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ for ye. Redemption of my Soul ~~~ Absolutely believing ye. resurrection of my soul & body to Eternall happiness at ye. day of Judgt. And my body to ye Earth from whenced it was taken, to be decently buried at ye. discretion of my Executors hereafter Mentioned as for my worldly Estate I bequeath As followeth ~~~ Item I give & bequeath unto Eliza. Hardy ye. daughter of Robert Hardy One Cow to be delivd. to her as soon as my be after my decease ~~~ Item I give & bequeath to Phillip Ascues three Children each of them a Cow to be delivd. as Above said ~~~ Item~My will is ye. my maid Mary Bishop be allowed yearly & every year from my said Exectx. hereafter Nominated Six hundred pounds of tobacco out of my Estate for ye. term of her life as part of A maintainance during ye. same ~~~ I give & bequeath all ye. rest of my Personell Estate ye. is to say goods Cattle, Chattles Moveable & Immoveable Moneys debts bills bonds together with all my Lands tenements houses or buildings together with all my servants rights & privileges in & to ye. above, Specified in as Large & Ample manner, as I my self have injoyed, the same to Richard Crocket & John Evans, to them & their heirs for Ever & Even to be Equally divided between ye. Said Richard & John & their heirs without ye. Mollestation & Interuption of any person or persons ye. shall Lay any claim to ye. Same or to any pte thereof & it is my will & testament and I doe by the same appoint the Aforesaid Richard Crockett & John Evans Exrs. of ye. same & I doe further revoake and Disanul all former wills as Doth Witness my hand & Seal this fifth day of January One Thousand Six hundred Seventy & Seven ~~~ Signed Sealed & Delivd. Wm Stevens to prove Nicholas Rice his will Somerset County ~~~ ____ By virtue of a Comission to me directed ~~~the Judge for probate of wills & grant Admrs, These are humbly to [Certifie] that on the 15th day of March [anno: 1677] then Thomas Daniel one of ye. witnesses Last will & testament of Nicholas Rice with[-in mentioned] did Swear that he Saw Nicholas Rice Sign & Seal it on ye. 18th. of ye. same Month March Thomas Wilson Made Made [oath] to the Same to Richard Crockett & John Evans was Administered ye.
