Somerset County Maryland In the name of God this four and Twentieth day of May in the year of our lord god. One thousand Six hundred and Ninety Eight I John Winder of Somerset County in the province of Maryland afsd Gent: being Sick and weak in body, but of a good and perfect Memorie thanks be to almighty god calling to remember me the uncertanty estate of this Transitory Life and that all flesh must yeild to death when it shall please god to call do make constitute ordain and declare this my Last wil and testament in manner and form followinf revoaking and Annulling by these presents all and Every testament and testaments will and Wills heretofore by me Made and declared other by words other and first being penitent and Sorry for my Sins I humbly desirving forgiveness for the same. I give and commit my soul unto Almighty God my saviour and redeemer in whom and by the Merits of Jefsus Christ I trust and believe afsurdely to be saved and to have full remifsion and forgivenefs of all my sins and that my body at the general day of Resurrection shall rise again with joy he and my soul with my body to be burried in such place as is shall please my Exect hereafter named to appoijnt and for the letting of my temporall Estate and such goods and chattles and debts as it hath pleased god to bestow upon me I doe order and give the same in Manner and form following that is to Say______ Imprimis I will that all ther debts and duties as I owe in Right or Conftience and (?) charge shall be payed and truly satisfied to any person or persons whatsoever within Conveenient time after my decease by me Executor hereafter named ______ Item I do give and bequeath unto my son John Winder all the Tract of land calld Heckatan chose and that tract o fLand called by the name of White Letter Invention binding upon tract Winder plantation and that tract of land on the East side of Rokawakin River called by the name of Better Containing Seventy five acres or thereabout the which tracts of land shall be enjoyed and pofsesed by him and his heirs for Ever My will is that if my son John Winder should die wihtout male heirs that my son William Winder shall have the half of the tract of land called Whites Letter Invetion to him and his heirs for ever notwith standing ______ Item I do give and bequeath to my son William Winder that tract of land laying on the fork of this river called pembertons good will to him and his heirs for ever Item I do give and bequeath to my son Wm two cows and a bull four sows and a boar and black mare one bed that I lay upon and all belonging to this said bed and o9ne pole called by the name of Betty pot and two thousand pounds of tobacco to be payed by my Executor tow years after my decease ______ Item I do give and bequeath to my son John Winder the shallefs and all belonging there unto also I bequeath to my son John my still and all belonging there unto my other three beds with all belonging to them with all other household stuff and all goods and chattles and hogs and house and all the remaining part of my Estate within doors and without ______ Item I do bequeath to my Son John Winder two Negroes and the Gal called Margret Meckewn all the time of his twice ______ Item I make and constitute my son John Winder my sole and hole Executor and with me decently burried by the side of his mother as close as I can be burried In Witnefs were of I have hereunto put my hand and that to this my Last will and Testament the day and year first above written ______ Signed Seald and Delivered and Declared as my Last will and testament in his presence of _____ John Winder ~ Seal Stephen Maxwell James Maxwell Wm Mark Genkins Memorandum that this day being ye 23d of September 1698 probate was made of the above will by the oaths of Stephen Maxwell and James Maxwell Witnefs who are both very sick S Hopkins Dep Com Memorandum probate was mad of this will upon decifion of ye witnefses being like to decease at theat time testimentry like granted Exect as appraisers Sworn February 1698 19th Inventory t be Exgibeted in One Month Witnefs S Hopkins Dep Com Recorded in Liber E B No. 5 folios 104 and 105 ~ Test.
