In the Name of God Amen I John Covington of great memory I Somerset County
in the Province of Maryland being sick and weak of body but of good and
perfect sence and memory praise be to god I doe make this my last will and
testament in manner and form as followeth first I give and bequeath my
Imortall soul unto god who gave it trusting in of through my blessed lord
and savior Jesus Christ merritts death and passion to obtain remission and
absolution for all my sins and I give my body to the earth from which it
came to be decently burried recording t the discretion of my Executrix
hereafter mentioned att as to the worldly goods it hath pleased the lord to
bestow upon after my debts legacies and generall rights are paid I give as
Followeth___Viz.
Impr. I give and bequeath unto my wife Mary Covington during her natural
life all that tract or piece of land called Second Choice in Great Memory
in Somerset County . Containing two hundred acres and after her decease
then to my son Nehemiah Covington and his heirs and if he should dye
without ssae then to my son Phillip Covington and his heirs_____
Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Covington his heirs all that
tract of land called Sassafrass Nick in great memory in Somerset County
containing one hundred and fifty acres and if he should dye without ssae
then to my son Phillip Covington and his heirs_____
Item I give unto my Cousin Leven Covington the first fold from my mare
[smatt????] shall being _____ Item I give unto my cousin Sarah Covington
one two yr. Heifer
Item I give unto my causin Elizabeth Covington one two year old heifer ~
Item my will is that if my wife Mary Covington should alter then condition
that is to Mary, that then my son Nehemiah and John Covington have their
liberty to live with her or not as they see fitt and that my son Philip
have his liberty to choose his guardian at the age of fourteen_____
Item my will is that all the rest and residue of my moveable Estate be
equally divided between my wife Mary Covington my son Nehemiah Covington My
son John Covington my so Philip Covington and Daughter Mary Covington and
as to time of dividing of it I refer that holy to the discretion of my
Executor hereafter mentioned______ ______
Item my will is that my son Nehemiah Covington in case my wife Marry or
should die be not possessed with this Estate until he arrives of live to
the age of one and X years and that son John be not possessed of any part
of his untill he be one twenty all this I leave holy likewise to the
desertion of my Executor to possess them at what age they shall think most
______ Item I doe make constitute and appoint my Loving brother Nehemiah
Covington and good friend Leven Denwood Jun. Executor of this my last will
and testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale
this the 11th day of October Anno Dom 1693.______
