Transcription
In the name of God Amen I John Booth wiccoemacoe I the County of Somerset
and province of Maryland, planter being weak of body yet of sound and
perfect memory prayse be therefore given to Almighty God doe make and
ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, that
is to say, First and principally I commend my soul unto the hands of
Almighty God hoping through the merrits death and passion of my savoir
Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit
ever lasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried
at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching the
dispossession of all such temporal Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God
to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth____
First I will that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged
Item I do give unto Bredgott Spence the Daughter of James Spencer one Ewe
and lamb and one cow and calf and first that shall fall upon the Plantation
whereon I live____
Item I do give unto my Daughter Eastire Booth one black cow and yearling
heifer which commonly was called and properly is her own __
Item I do give unto my son John Booth the Plantation which I now live and
all the appertained thereunto belonging to him and his heirs forever only.
I do give and bequeath unto my youngest son Daniel Booth four hundred and
fifty acres more or less and the said hundred acres which I now do give
unto son Daniel Booth is bounded as followeth binding upon the West side
of a branch called the deep branch for length word upon the river of
Wicomico for breadth to him the said Daniel Booth and his heirs for ever,
with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the sd. Daniel my will
is shall inherit his land and goods at eighteen yrs. of age.
Item I do give unto my son Peter Booth a tract or dividend of land lying
back in the woods upon the branches of Wicomico containing the hundred and
fifty acres, commonly called Harmon, which I bought of John Parker withall
profits benefits and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him and the sd.
Peter Booth and his heirs for ever and the sd. Peter Booth my will is shall
inherit his land and goods at eighteen years of age____
Item I doe give unto my son Isaac Booth one tract or dividend of land lying
back in the woods called Fatt acres quarter containing two hundred acres
more or less which tract I bought of Wm. Carry with all rights profits
benefits thereunto belonging to him the said Isaac Booth and to his heirs
for ever and the said Isaac my will is shall be at age to inherit his land
and goods when he shall come to the age of eighteen years_____
Item I will that my son John Booth and my Daughter Easter Booth and my
daughter Elizabeth Booth shall be at age and at their own disposing after
my decease leaving my son John Booth my full and sole Executor desiring
James Spencer and Philip Askew Jun. To be assisting to my Executor
aforesaid to see this my last will and testament duely performed to the
utmost of their power_____
All the rest and residue of my personal Estate goods and chattles
whatsoever I do give and bequeath to be equally divided amongst my six
children to will. John Booth my eldest son my soul Executor and Peter
Booth and Isaac Booth and Daniel Booth and my Daughter Easter and Elizabeth
Booth ____
And my will is that John Booth my eldest son and sole executor of this my
last will and testament and my daughter Easter Booth and Elizabeth Booth
shall enjoy and possess their goods and chattles after my decease____
And do hereby revoke disanull and make void all former wills and Testaments
by me heretofore made I witness whereof I the said John Booth to this my
Last Will and Testament being contained in two sides of one sheet of paper
sett my hand to the top of the first side thereof and to the last side I
sett my seale the 16th day of May in the year of our lord 1698.
