Transcription
In the name of God amen this twenty and seventh day of February in the
sixth year of his majesty King William Reign of England Scotland France and
Ireland, defender of faith and in the year of our lord god one thousand six
hundred ninety six. I James Dashiell of the County of Somerset and
province of Maryland, though t present in health of body and of good and
perfect memory, thanks be to god almighty yet knowing the uncertainty of
this present life and being desireous to put thinks in order doe make and
ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following____
First and Principally I commend my to god almighty my creator assuredly
believing, that I shall receive full and free remission of all my sins and
be saved by the precious death and meritts of my blessed savior and
redeemer Jesus Christ, and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to
be buried in a Christian and decent manner and as touching such worldly
Estate as the lord in Mercy hath lent me. My will is that it be employed
and bestowed as here after is expressed _____
My will is that all debts and demands what ever if owe in right or consearn
to any maner of person whatever, be an truly satisfied with in a convenient
time after my decease, by my Executors hereafter named It is my Will that
my well beloved wife Ann Dashiell I leave her this Plantation where she now
liveth during her life time or her widowhood with every convenience there
now belonging, servants, cattle or what els there unto belonging, what corn
or tobacco, they make she hath the disposing of to keep her self her son
Ro: and the servants in clothing but if she marries another husband, I
desire she may have her dew and began___
I leave and bequeath unto my son James Dashiell, the severall tracts or
parcells of land marshes, desert makes right Right wool Hap. Neck
containing in all five hundred and fifty acres, bounded as will appear by
Pattens to him and his heirs for ever only he shall to George Dashiell
three thousand pounds of tobacco-
I leave my son Thomas Dashiells a parcell of land of hundred and fifty
acres called Becknum lying between the wolf trap neck and the head of
Tyaskin Creek, I leave to him and his heirs forever_______
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Dashiell on tract of land
containing three hundred acres called Long Hill as will appear by paton to
him and his heirs for ever, only George Dashiell three thousand pounds of
Tobacco to be paid by Robert Dashiell_____
It is my will that all the goods I have moveable and unmovable should be
equally divided amongst all my children with the Negroes that is a live I
appoint my son Robert Dashiell one feather bed and furniture, I appoint my
Daughter Jane to have one mare with her increase it is my desire that the
tables chairs and couches and the cored, should sty in the house I
constitute and appoint my son James Dashiell to be Executor of this my last
will and testament disannulling and making void any will or wills formily
by me made either by word or writ. In witness, whereof, I have set my hand
and seal the day and year above written, I Disanull my son Tho. Dashiell
and my Daughter Jean from having my share of Negroes, as witness my hand
and seal~

Memorandum, that we the subscribers and legattees concerned in the above
written will do hereby declare, that we and every of us do unanimously
consent agree and confess to stand to abide by and fullfill the said last
Will and Testament of our Hon. Father [??] deceased. In witness whereof we
have hereunto put our hands and seals this last Ann. Dom. day of August
