In the name of God, Amen. I Isaac Gibbons of Somerset County in the
State of Maryland, being in a weak state of health of body but of sound
and disposing mind and memory and understanding, considering the
certainty of death, and the uncertainty of time thereof being desirous
to settle my worldly affairs and thereby to be better prepared to leave
this world when it may please God to call me First and principally I
commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth
to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after
named. Item I give and bequeath to my son Theodore Thomas Gibbons the my
land on back creek branch where my father formerly lived to him his
heirs and assigns forever Item I give and bequeath unto Samuel Smith
Gibbons one half of my dwelling plantation where I now live with a line
drawn from a ditch at the south end of the Granary and with the said
ditch to the lands of the Heirs of Joshua Ross, to him his heirs or
assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to Isaac Francis Gibbons one
half of my Lands that lieth to the North of the above line with the
Improvements thereon to him his heirs and assigns But if either Samuel
Smith Gibbons or Isaac Francis Gibbons should die without issue then in
that case the survivor to have the whole of the lands where I now live,
Item I give and bequeath unto Henry James Smith Gibbons the best Horse
bridle and saddle and my wearing apparel to him his heirs or assigns and
after my debts and funeral charges are paid and my personal Estate is
appraised and my wife takes out her third part that my Executors shall
make sale of the other two thirds and the money arising therefrom shall
be equally divided between Hester Ann Gibbons Elizabeth Mary Gibbons and
Emeline Jane Gibbons share...and share alike as they may come of lawful
age and my will is and I hereby give the profits of my Real and personal
Estate to my wife for to school and to support my children on to witt
Henry James Smith Gibbons, Hester Ann Gibbons,Elizabeth Mary Gibbons,
Emeline Jane Gibbons, Theodore Thomas Gibbons, Samuel Smith Gibbons ,and
Isaac Frances Gibbons and it is my will that my wife shall not be
compelled to pass accounts in the orphans Court against any of my
children. But as fast as my children may come of lawful age they are to
be paid off by my Executors and the profits [inserted: share to my wife
but if my wife should intermarry she is not to have any Executors care
off against the] of the childrens money to be in the hands of my
Executors for their school and my Executors to have the charge of my
children. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend
William Boggs and my son Henry James Smith Gibbons to be my hole and
sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking and annulling
all former wills by me made ratifying and confirming this to be my last
will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this seventh day of August Eighteen hundred and twenty -

his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have

Catl in Stoughton Ross Somerset County to wit, November 28th 1820. Then
came William Boggs & Henry J. S. Gibbons and made oath on the Holy
Evangels of Almighty God, that the within instrument of writing is the
true and whole last Will and testament of Isaac Gibbons, late of
Somerset County, deceased, that hath come to their hands or possessions
and that they do not know of any other ~ Before James Polk Regr. W.S.C.
Somerset County to wit: November 28th 1820. Then came Noah Ross, Henry
Catlin and Stoughton Ross the subscribing witnesses to the within last
Will and Testament of Isaac Gibbons, late of Somerset County, deceased,
and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, that they
did see the testator therein named sign and seal this will, and that
they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last
will and testament, and that at the time of his so doing he was to the
best of each of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind, memory
and understanding capable of Executing a valid contract; and that they
did respectively subscribe this will as witnesses thereto in the
presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each

On the 14th day of November 1820 came James Whittington, Samuel Somers &
Theophilus B White the three subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last
will and testament of Benjamin Lankford, late of Somerset County,
deceased, and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God,
that they did see the testator therein named sign and seal this will,
and that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be
his last will and testament; and that at the time of his so doing he was
to the best of each of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind,
memory and understanding capable of executing a valid contract; and that
they did respectively subscribe this will as witnesses thereto in the
presence and at the request of the Testator, and in the presence of each
