LAYFIELD FAMILY GRAVEYARD
Lower Trappe, Princess Anne District #1

This small cemetery was visited and transcribed by John and Jane West in October 1999. The Layfield Cemetery is located south of Princess Anne between the northbound side of Route 13 and Old Princess Anne Road. From the center of Princess Anne travel south turning off onto Old Princess Anne Road, cross the railroad tracks and go south approximately 3 to 4 miles. You will pass Washington High School on the right. The cemetery is located in a small clump of trees in a tillable field approximately 400 yards from the road. The plot was very overgrown and the stones in disarray. Thanks to the Wests for providing this information!

It appears, looking at a map of the Princess Anne District in the 1877 Atlas, that this would be located in Lower Trappe. The residence and lands of "J. Layfield" are clearly visible just north of the words "Lower Trappe" on the map.
