MADDOX posted by David Coyner on Sunday, December 14, 2003

Looking for information on Elias G. MADDOX, born abt 1800 in Somerset, MD. His father's name possibly may have been William Henry MADDOX, but not sure about that. Elias shows up in the Kanawha Co., WV census in 1830, indicating he did not live in MD long.

STANFORD posted by Eleridge McCracking on Tuesday, December 23, 2003

My gggranddad was Joseph STANFORD, Jr. (b. 2 Feb 1694 in Somerset County, MD). His second wife was Sarah (no other information). They also had a child named Sarah, born in Wicomico County, MD. Then there is another Sarah later in the line (b. 1776 in Somerset County). Is this who you are looking for? Drop me a line and I will share what I have. There is a book published on the Stanfords back to Joseph STANFORD, Jr, 1694.

GILES, HICKS, KELLY posted by Kay Hess Grogg on Thursday, January 1, 2004

Seeking information on J. (James or John) Franklin KELLY and Anna M. (GILES) KELLY. I found them in the 1870 Somerset Co., MD census. Children listed were William, James, Kittura (sic), and Ella. Anna M. KELLY appeared in the 1880 Baltimore, MD census listed as "widow". The same children listed above were living with her, plus Isaac who was listed as b. 1870, which must have been after the 1870 census was taken. Kittura (sic) and Ella were twins and were born in 1868. Full names were Mary Kiturah (aka Kate) and Martha Ellen (aka Ella) KELLY. Matha Ellen married William Leslie HICKS from North Carolina in the 1890's. He died in the Spanish American War from disease. They had one daughter, Mary Katurah HICKS. Mary was 6 months old when her father died. Martha Ellen and Mary HICKS lived in Baltimore, MD for many years. If anyone has information on these families, I would love to hear from you.

Looking for information on my ancestors who apparently were Zephaniah LANKFORD (born circa 1806, died 1843), his wife, Elizabeth MILES, Elizabeth's parents, Henry MILES and Rachel WARD and their ancestors. My line of descent is from Zephaniah and Elizabeth Miles Lankford's daughter, Isabella Frances, who married Thomas E. Godman. The LANKFORD, MILES and WARD families are all Somerset County families so far as I know. Thanks for any information you can provide.

HOWARD, MARSHALL posted by Charlie Morgan on Sunday, January 25, 2004

Seeking information on the MARSHALL and HOWARD families of Somerset Co. in the early to mid 1800s. A Thomas MARSHALL , age 22, born MD, is listed in the 1850 Somerset Co. census - 1st Division, Brinkley District - along with a Sarah MARSHALL, age 24, born MD. Thomas is listed as an overseer. I would appreciate any information on these people or possible family related to them. I suspect that this is Thomas and Sarah Marshall, who moved to Adams Co., IL along with their daughter, Sarah, born c. 1850 -1851 in MD. Thanks in advance for any leads!

DUNN, WALLACE posted by Cheryl Baez on Sunday, February 1, 2004

William H. WALLACE and Julia A. DUNN are my great-great-great grandparents. I found records of these families in the Tyaskin District, 2nd Division. William H. WALLACE is listed with a Meranda E. WALLACE and an Emily F. WALLACE. The age for William is listed as 22 . . . and this would be correct for my William H. WALLACE. Meranda is listed as 18, so I am assuming she is his wife. Emily at 1 would be their daughter. Julia Ann DUNN is listed as 19 and is listed with Joseph - 48, Susan - 25, Joseph - 18, Perry - 9, Betsey E. - 3; and Louisa C. - 10 mo. Julia is also the correct age according to later census data. Can anyone provide me with further information on any of these people? Is there a death record for Meranda?
