Carolyn I. SmithSun, 08 Nov 1998 13:31:55 -0800 Seeking information on the parents/family of William [Urlanus?] BLOOM, b:25 May 1845/48, to William BLOOM, a miller, and Catherine [BOWERS] BLOOM, near Winfield, Carroll, MD. His mother, Catherine, died in 1853 and William, his brother, Adam, and sister, Jennie, were raised by relatives. William was raised by his uncle, Coonrod BOWERS, according to his Civil War pension file. A Coonrod BOWERS, age 40, is in the 1860 Carroll Co. Census, but William U. BLOOM is not listed with him. His father has remarried in the 1860 Census and has another family, without his earlier children. William U. Bloom moved to Fayette Co., PA after the Civil War, married and raised a family there.
