NAGEL NAIL RIGGLE UTZ

Roger Nale Fri, 28 Aug 1998 11:09:10 -0400 I am trying to get specific information on Phillip Daniel Nagel (Nail), his mother Anna Maria and his two sisters Anna Maria and Maria Barbara. They settled near Union Mills around 1751. I believe, based chancery court records, that Phillip married Maria Margaret Bankert (although a Bankert researcher shows Maria Margaret married to an Andrew Lohr) and Maria Barbara Nagel married Heinrich Jacob Utz. I do not have any information on who Anna Maria married. Phillip and Margaret's youngest child, Henry Nail, married Catharine Riggle. I believe her father was Henry Riggle who was from an area called Digge's Choice, near Hanover, PA. Henry Nail and two of his brothers migrated to Huntingdon County, PA in the 1830's along with some of the Riggles (possibly a brother of Catherine named Henry). Any information on sources to help confirm any of this information would be greatly appreciated. Roger Nale

GOUGH/GOFF/GOW

Janet Goff JenkinsTue, 25 Aug 1998 10:35:32 EDT I saw a posting where you had books and would do lookups. I am looking for a Richard Gough born 1760-1770 . I have a lead that he came to Ohio from MARYLAND sometime before the 1820 Ohio census. I have a lead that he had a sibling named Catherine Gough/Gow (the Gough researcher who gave me her name used the Gough/Gow spelling but I have never run across the surname Gough/Goff being spelled Gow which is a Scottish spelling.) born 1780. In 1803, she married Johannes (John) Minnick who also was from Maryland and been previously married. In 1806, they moved to Harrison/Carroll County Ohio which is the same county where my Richard Gough was found in the 1820,1830,1840 Ohio census. Richard Gough had at least two known sons: Joseph Gough b. 1806 and Henry Gough b. 1810. Joseph married a Sarah Stone who was born in Maryland. Thanks in advance, Janet Goff Jenkins

LANTZ BEST BISHOP COXWELL HYDE NORRIS OTTO POOLE SELLMAN SMELSER SMITH WINROD

Brian Long or Trudie avis-Long Fri, 21 Aug 1998 07:23:50 -0700 In research phase: The Annotated Life & Times of James W Lantz of Carroll County Based on His Diary (1857-1891) and Genealogy. James W. Lantz was a huckster who had wholesale grocery business ties in Baltimore, MD. The diary chronicles his daily life, which mostly centers on his work and illnesses-he was an invalid for the last 30 years of his life. But where he has indicated local deaths and marriages, attempts have been made to find substanciating documentation in local newspapers and courthouse records. The same effort has been made in the genealogy, which now includes family members from Modesto, California to Connecticut. Allied Families are Best, Bishop, Coxwell, Hyde, Norris, Otto, Poole, Sellman, Smelser, Smith, Winrod. I have located Smith descendants in CA and MI; Lantz in OH & Mi; Poole in Chicago, IL and St Louis, MO If you have related family members who may have been in the New Windsor, Carroll Co, MD and would like to contribute information for the book, please send it to Trudie Davis Long, c/o Paw Prints, Inc, PO Box 52 Monrovia, MD 21770. -- Trudie Davis-Long Trudie is newsletter editor for FRECOGS, PO Box 234, Monrovia, MD 21770-0234 [Frederick County Genealogy Society] and co-owner of Paw Prints, Inc, PO Box 52, Monrovia, MD 21770-0052 in progress: The Annotated Life & Times of James W Lantz of Carroll County Based on His Diary (1857-1891) and Genealogy [1770+]
