Found in old papers a quote from My Grandfather (George Elbert Grimes) that died in 1951, stating that "our Grimes forebears came from Germany on the ship "The Sacred Cow" to Rising Sun, Maryland. RAU ROW SLUSS

Carmen Sat, 5 Feb 2000 19:35:48 -0800 RAU/ROW/SLUSS- I have an Andreas Rau(Andrew Row) who supposedly came to America with either one or two brothers. They could have come from England or Germany.They either entered thru the port of Philadelphia or Baltimore. They split up. Andrew settled & bought land near Emmitsburg, Frederick Co., MD in 1700's. In 1885 he sold his plantation to his 3 sons- Arthur, George & Michael. In the 3 Deeds, Andrew spelled his name Rau and his sons spelled it Row. Andrew then bought lot #2 in newly founded Emmitsburg. Michael had a daughter, Lucy Ann, who married Michael Sluss who lived near Bridgeport(Taneytown). Michael also had a son, Michael, who moved onto Waynesboro, PA. Can't seem to find anything on Andrew. Would appreciated info in him or Lucy Ann Sluss. Any help greatly appreciated.

My grandfather was her 6th child, born in l825 on the above farm.,and named after his father, ie Frederick Smith.
