Leondard On
the 28th ult, after a protracted pulmonary illness of seven months,
Mrs. Mary Leonard, in the 32nd year of her age, leaving her husband with
three small children. Her afflictions were borne with Christian
fortitude and resignation, and although in the providence of God, but
two months since she was called to endure the loss of a beloved child,
in the fourth year of its age, she mourned not, but confided in his
promise, that “all things shall work together for good to them that love
the Lord.” She departed in the full triumphs of the gospel faith; and
when the work of death had so beclouded her vision that the forms of
sight, which frequently precedes the last moment of the Christian’s
earthly pilgrimage, she beheld the glories of the upper world, and gave
praise to God, “that she was about to join the spirit of her departed
babe,” in that rest which Christ hath prepared for his faithful disciples.
